National Grandparents Day is September 10, 2006Lutheran Homes of Michigan offers these great ideas to help families celebrate "National Grandparents Day" the first Sunday after Labor Day. Proclaimed by Congress in 1978 as a day set aside to honor those in the "autumn years" of life, "National Grandparents Day" originally began as a way to champion the cause of lonely elderly in nursing homes and as a way to persuade grandchildren to tap the wisdom and heritage their grandparents could provide.
