JUDY MURRAY - CAUGHT THE "BUG" IN LIVONIA

Judy Murray was named Volunteer of the Year for the Lutheran Home Livonia! Judy is a wonderful person, a devoted daughter and a conscientious & caring volunteer. Judy's mother was admitted to the Lutheran Home Livonia in November 1998 and in December 1998 just lending a hand for holidays, Judy got hooked by the "Volunteer Bug"! Before you knew it, Judy was assisting with parties, outings and special events. Judy assists with Sunday morning chapel services, helps with special outings, the "Ice Cream on Wheels" program, and a multitude of other activities. Judy has averaged over 75 hours of volunteer time per month. Judy is a true blessing to Lutheran Home Livonia and we are proud to have her as a Volunteer!

VERA KERN - THE VOLUNTEER "ROLE MODEL"

Vera Kern was named the Lutheran HOME CARE Agency Volunteer of the Year. Vera has shared her creative talents and time with the Lutheran Home Care Agency since June 1999. She has become involved in many different capacities including home care and hospice. Vera has organized the Hospice Annual Garage Sale and the Hearts for Hospice Benefit Silent Auction. For the past two years she has offered her expertise, enthusiasm, and organizational planning skills as an integral member of the hearts for Hospice Steering Committee. In addition she provides invaluable hours twice monthly filing in the business office. Vera exemplifies the essence of volunteerism by giving of herself. Her loyalty, dedication, and friendly disposition make her a joy to work with. She is a role model of Christian love and servanthood.

ERNA JANSON - A DECADE OF SINCERE SERVICE

Erna Janson was named Volunteer of the Year for the Lutheran Home - Frankenmuth. Erna began volunteering at the Lutheran Home Frankenmuth 10 years ago. Through the years, she has worked in a variety of positions. Erna has helped in the Daybreak (Alzheimer's) program, the Supper Club (dementia) program, assists in distributing mail, helping with resident outings, and other group activity events. Many times after her volunteer duties are finished Erna gathers a few of the residents together for a late night card game. Erna is always willing and eager to help out with any special project. Dedicated, caring, and sincere are but a few words to describe Erna and what she means to the residents, staff and families here at the Lutheran Home - Frankenmuth.

BILL FERGUSON - FAITHFUL FRIEND TO RESIDENTS AND STAFF

Bill Ferguson was named Volunteer of the Year for the Lutheran Home - Monroe. Bill began volunteering at the Lutheran Home - Monroe in 1987, soon after his retirement. He is a pleasant, warm and friendly man who volunteers twice a week. He organizes two or three card games every Wednesday, exhibiting genuine kindness and friendship as well as joining in the card game. Let's say he has a winning personality! He also spends time each week with "room bound" residents, visiting or playing cards. He is a faithful usher for the weekly chapel service on Friday, assisting residents to and from the service. Bill also serves as a volunteer for several other organizations in Monroe. Bill is a true blessing to the residents and staff of the Lutheran Home Monroe.
