HOSPICE OF HOPE VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
Become a Member of Our Team
Volunteers contribute greatly to the success of Hospice by providing
direct patient support and encouragement and/or valuable agency
support by performing a variety of much needed office tasks.
It takes a whole team to provide comfort to the terminally ill at the end of their lives. Volunteers in the Hospice program assist in achieving the Hospice goal of hope, relief and comfort.
Volunteer Training and Support
As with all team members you will be provided with Training and
Support. All individuals who wish to volunteer with Hospice must take
our Hospice training course. These courses are held twice per year.
Some of the topics include effective communication skills, pain and
symptom management, spiritual care and bereavement issues.
In addition, ongoing In-service meetings are held for volunteers throughout the year. Speakers discuss current topics. Volunteers questions or concerns can be presented for discussion at these meetings as well.
A monthly Volunteer Newsletter is mailed to all Hospice Volunteers to keep them updated and informed about Hospice happenings.
All our wonderful volunteers are given formal recognition at a yearly Volunteer Appreciation Event.
